A routine inspection has led to the immediate closure of a bridge in southern Fulton County. The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced the Harkle Road Creek Bridge on Arkansas Highway 9 has been temporarily closed to through traffic.
According to ArDOT, motorists traveling north on Highway 9 will be detoured at Oxford onto Arkansas Highway 354. At the four-way stop in Horseshoe Bend, the detour continues straight onto Arkansas Highway 289 to Glencoe. Motorists will then head west on U.S. Highway 62/412 to Salem, where they can return to their northern route on Highway 9. Those traveling south on Highway 9 will be detoured from Salem to Glencoe, Horseshoe Bend and Oxford, where they’ll return to Highway 9.
Traffic will be controlled with the use of barrels, message boards and signage. Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
