In 1953, the First Baptist Church along 6th Street was built. Since then, it has housed North Arkansas Community College, ASU-Mountain Home and a variety of county offices.

The building has been vacant since 2011 and talks of repair or demolition have been occurring ever since. Baxter County Judge Kevin Litty and Buildings Superintendent Rob Hogard spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News to discuss the county’s decision to move forward with the demolition.
