Hall, Hardinson lead 1st round of Big Creek Stroke Play Championship

The Big Creek Golf and Country Club Stroke Play Championship began its two-day run on Saturday.

Craig Hall was the top golfer on the men’s side during the first round of the event designated by the Arkansas State Golf Association. Hall leads the senior division with a two-under-par 70, Mark Chambers trails by a stroke, and Gene Davis and Terry Kirby are tied for third after shooting a 78.

Tyler Reynolds leads the amateur division with a one-under-par 71. Matt Johnson is second at one stroke off the lead, and Adam Mote is third with a 74.

Brent Cook is leading the mid-senior division with an even-par 72. Kyle Thompson is trailing by six strokes for second place, and Casey Castleberry is third with an 82.

Jay Lester leads the super senior division with a 73. Tracey Harris and Bobby Baker are tied for second at two strokes back.

Bill Wrentz and Jim Smith are tied for the masters division lead after each shot a 78. Gary Whitt is third at one stroke off the lead.

Sarah Hardison is the top female golfer after the first round with a 78. Hardison is leading the mid-senior division.

Rosetta Parks has the opening round lead in the senior division. Parks shot an 86 on Saturday.

Karen Carter leads the super senior division with an 85. Pam Evans is second at three strokes back, and Sherrie Nichols is third with an 89.

Mimi Evans is the leader of the masters division. Mimi Evans’ first round ended with an 85.

The final round tees off Sunday morning at 8.
