A 24-year-old member of the Mountain Home Police Department has been fired following his arrest early Friday morning. The officer, who had been with the department over two and a half years, was charged with driving while intoxicated, texting while driving and driving left of center. He was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center at 1:50 and was released at 2:15 after posting bond.

The officer was off duty at the time of his arrest and was in his personal vehicle.

A trooper with the Arkansas State Police made the arrest.

Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin confirmed to KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News the officer is no longer employed at the police department. He said he could not comment any further.

The officer had been with the department since the beginning of 2021.

(KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News does not typically run stories about DWI arrests, so we did not run the officer’s name in this story.  We felt the fact a law enforcement officer was arrested and fired warranted the story.)
