Starting Thursday, the 62nd annual Hootin an Hollarin Festival will take place on the Gainesville Square. The festival will feature bluegrass, county and gospel music as well as contests of all kinds.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can shop a multitude of craft vendors as well as old-time craft demonstrations taking place around the square. Each evening will end with square dancing to traditional tunes played by an Ozarks fiddler and band.
The event kicks off Thursday evening at 5:30 with the National Anthem and mayor’s welcome. The quilt show will run from 5-7. On stage, Jessica Suit and Regan Blackburn will perform at 5:30, followed by the queen pageant at 7:30 on the main stage.
On Friday, a full day of events start at 10 with the quilt show and kid’s corner. Musical entertainment will take place on the main stage at 11 with entertainment from the Gainesville High School Choir followed by Wyatt Dodge at Noon, One More Dollar Band at 12:30, Emalee Flatness Band at 4, Backyard Bluegrass at 5:30 and the Psychobilly Cadillac Band at 7:30.
The festival closes out Saturday with the 5K run/walk at 8:30, a costume parade at 11 and the big float and band parade at 2. Musical entertainment will include Rob Voss at 12, District 33 at 1, Come What Mae at 3:30, Sylamore Special at 5 and the Kattie Laney Project at 7. There will also be a cornhole tournament across from city hall in the morning at 10.
Friday and Saturday will feature terrapin races at 10:30 and square dancing from 9 until midnight.
