The Mountain Home Cemetery Board announced a new fund last month for the cemetery’s support, care and maintenance. The board has joined into an agreement with the Arkansas Community Foundation and the Twin Lakes Community Foundation to create the Mountain Home Cemetery Endowment.
Twin Lakes Community Foundation Executive Director Kimberly Jones two matches have also been announced for the endowment.

The Mountain Home Cemetery was established in 1863, and according to the city, it contains many of Baxter County’s most prominent founders and military service members dating to the Civil War era. It is also the final resting place for many generations of Baxter County’s original families, ranging from affluent settlers to indigent natives.
Mountain Home Cemetery Board member Clint Czeschin says with some of the smaller cemeteries, the ability to keep them maintained is more of a struggle than in years past.
