The City of Flippin Police Department is introducing a “Coffee with Cops” initiative beginning Friday morning.

According to a release from the FPD, Police Chief John Spence and Mayor Heath Hogan have developed the program to engage residents in the community. The informal gatherings will be held for city residents, business owners and members of the public will have an opportunity to get to know and speak directly with the Mayor, Police Chief and members of the City of Flippin Police Department on topics relating to the city, neighborhoods and the police department.

Officials state they are focusing on a new policing philosophy. The philosophy of ‘Community Policing’ is said to urge a strong relationship between the police and community through open lines of communication and cooperation to continually identify needs and concerns within the community while collectively developing strategies to solve the concerns or issues for residents.

The first meeting will be held Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 in the Council Chambers of Flippin City Hall.
