One of Mountain Home High School’s greatest golfers will be honored by his alma mater this weekend. Brad Simons will be part of the Class of 2023 into the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor on Saturday.
As a kid originally growing up in California, Simons was playing baseball and basketball, riding dirt bikes and hunting with his family. Simons says he first discovered the game of golf at age 12.
Listen:
As a member of the Mountain Home High School golf team, Simons helped lead the Bombers to two state championships. He also won the 2006 Arkansas Overall Individual Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock.
Simons went on to join the men’s golf program at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. As a Blue Raider, he played in three NCAA Regionals, and his career best finish was a tie for 13th place in Seattle against some of the best golfers in the country.
Simons says as much as he loved the other sports he grew up with, he decided during his youth to make golf his athletic focus.
Listen:
After college, Simons played professionally on the mini tours for two years. He later began his career in the golf business at the Country Club of Little Rock and served as the lead assistant professional from 2014 to 2022. In April of last year, Simons was hired as the head golf professional at Northwood Club, which is considered one of the premier private clubs in Dallas.
When speaking with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot Sports, Simons was in the process of moving from Dallas back to Arkansas as he will be relocating to the Mississippi County town of Wilson. Last month, he transitioned as the director of golf for the newly-founded exclusive Tin House Golf Club, the future Alluvium Golf Club and the Wilson Field and Sporting Club. Simons says he is looking forward to his new opportunity.
