Last Wednesday, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) released school letter grades which reflect a school’s overall performance.

According to the ADE, the letter grades are part of the state accountability reports. With the exception of letter grades in the state report, both the state and federal reports mirror each other in many ways and include data about student achievement and growth, graduation rates, and other indicators that measure student learning.

For the 2022-23 school year Mountain Home High School Career Academies, Flippin High School, Cotter High School, Norfork High School and Yellville-Summit High School all received a C letter grade from ADE.

Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Allyson Dewey released the following statement regarding the letter grades.

“The recently-released letter grades are another piece of data for us to use as we work toward our student growth goals. These letter grades show us a number of areas from last school year to celebrate and other areas where we need to focus our attention this school year. The daily work being done in our buildings through our professional learning communities is centered around student success, and the decisions our educators are making are data-driven. I believe this year’s renewed focus on collaboration, behavioral support, and tiered academic instruction will be evident when we see next year’s letter grades. For now, we’ll use the feedback from these report cards to identify points of strength and target areas of improvement.”
