A long-time administrator of Mountain Home Public Schools and a supporter of the Bomber soccer programs is part of the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor’s Class of 2023. Mike Breton will be inducted during Saturday’s banquet.

Breton was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and received his teaching degree at Sacramento State College, currently known as California State University-Sacramento. After teaching special education for four years in Sacramento, Breton and his wife, Karen, then taught in Tehran, Iran. After a four-year stint, they moved to the American School in Brasilia, Brazil, six months before Shah of Iran was forced to flee.

During his three-year run in Brazil, Breton reportedly became exposed to the prevalence and excitement of soccer. He and his wife had two children, Kristian and Marcela, while in South America.

The family later moved to Fayetteville for Breton to begin his graduate studies. After receiving another degree from the University of Arkansas, Breton came to Mountain Home in 1984 and went on to work as a school administrator for 23 years.

During his career, Breton taught or administered at every level from first grade to college graduate teaching. He served at schools that were stateside, overseas, urban, rural, small, large, private and public. Breton considers some of his best years at Mountain Home.

Breton will be honored during the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor Banquet Saturday in the high school cafeteria. The reception begins at noon, and the banquet and lunch will be an hour later. For tickets, contact the Mountain Home athletic office at 870-425-1285.
