A Mountain Home man, who had a fight with his girlfriend, was arrested after he tried to get into two vehicles occupied by females where they were purchasing gas. The man, 19-year-old Austin Grant Duck, is facing eight charges in connection with the incidents.According to the probable cause affidavit, the first call came in at 6:52 on Sept. 9. The female caller said a man had tried to get into her car when she finished pumping gas at a station at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62/412 and Cranfield Road.

She told deputies she had seen the man sleeping near the vending machines and when she was done at the gas pump, she got in her car and Duck allegedly tried to open her door before she was able to get away.

When a deputy arrived, they found Duck walking a short distance from the gas station. During questioning, he told the deputy he had been to a party in Missouri, had a fight with his girlfriend and walked back to Mountain Home. When asked if he had talked to anyone at the gas station, Duck said, “I didn’t try to get into anyone’s car. She’s lying.”

A short time later, another caller said she needed to file a report about someone trying to steal her purse at the same gas station around the same time of the first incident. She noticed Duck had opened her passenger side door and was going through her purse. When she asked him what he was doing, the suspect said “Dude? Dude?”

The victim climbed through the car and pushed Duck out of the vehicle and closed the door. Duck re-opened the door with the victim again pushing him away.

While reviewing video footage, duck is seen attempting to get into another vehicle.

Duck is facing two felony charges of breaking or entering, two misdemeanor charges each of criminal mischief and criminal trespass and single misdemeanor charges of attempted theft of property and disorderly conduct. He is free on $15,000 bond.
