MH NJROTC adopted as partners for new USS Arkansas Nuclear Submarine

The Mountain Home High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (NJROTC) Unit was recently adopted as official partners of the USS Arkansas, a newly commissioned nuclear attack submarine for United States Navy.

The commanding officer of the new submarine, along with members of his crew, will visit Mountain Home Thursday and Friday as part of tour of the state to garner support for the crew of the USS Arkansas from the residents and representatives of the state, along with developing a plan for the establishment of a commissioning committee.

NJROTC Commander Allan Hale and Chief Jason Williams recently spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News where Commander Hale states this submarine will represent Arkansas around the world.

Starting on Thursday, the commanding officer and crew will be visiting area schools and giving a presentation to veterans and community members at 3 at Dunbar Auditorium. On Friday, the ceremony for the official designation will commence at the NJROTC 30th anniversary celebration to be held at Bomber Stadium beginning at 4.
