A fire broke out last weekend at the plant of a local boat manufacturer. The fire reportedly caused damage to a number of items at Triton Boats in Midway, but there have not been any reports of injuries.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched Oct. 15 to the factory on Dillard Drive, and firefighters were on the scene preparing to breach the building. The fire was determined to be on the building’s southwest corner.

Once the fire was extinguished, it was discovered to have started on a plastic utility cart that carried multiple tools for “bleeding steering columns on a boat. Two marine batteries were also located on the bottom of the cart.

The fire reportedly grew enough to damage other items including several other plastic utility carts, a bandsaw and a roll of fiberglass. Authorities were unable to get a full description of everything damaged due to smoke and water in the building.
