A rural Mountain Home man is in the Baxter County Detention Center after a high speed motorcycle pursuit ended with a foot chase by law enforcement Tuesday morning. Thirty-nine year old Charles Matthew Franks faces multiple charges including felony drug counts.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, a Baxter County Sheriff’s deputy met the motorcycle on Baxter County Road 25 and obtained a radar lock indicating Franks was traveling at 70 mph. A pursuit ensued with speeds in excess of 90 mph and Franks failing to stop at the intersection of County Road 25 and County Road 27. The pursuit entered private property where the operator lost control and abandoned the vehicle. As Franks fled on foot, a TASER was deployed by another Sheriff’s deputy. The assailant was quickly subdued and taken into custody.
The suspect was found to be on active supervision with Arkansas Division of Community Corrections (ACC). A search of the suspect and the area produced a black satchel bag with a quantity of numerous pills, syringes, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, a scale and a large quantity of cash totaling $12,990.
Franks was first taken to Baxter Health for the removal of the TASER probe and then was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center. He is being held at the Baxter County Detention on a felony count of fleeing by vehicle and misdemeanor counts of fleeing on foot, wreckless driving and resisting arrest he is currently being held without bond at this time for violating the provisions of his supervised release with ACC.
