Latest unemployment numbers for Twin Lakes Area stay steady

The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show September’s unemployment rates in most counties in north central Arkansas and southern Missouri stayed pretty steady compared to August.

In Baxter County, the rate rose from 3.5% in August to 3.6% in September. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 34th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 625 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 17,275.

Marion County’s rate increased from 3.8% in August to 3.9% in September, ranking it as tied for the 52nd lowest in the state. Marion County has 247 residents out of work from a work force of 6,370.

Fulton County’s unemployment rate went down from 3.9% in August to 3.7% in September, which means they are tied for the 40th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,705 and 173 unemployed.

The unemployment rate in Izard County declined from 6.1% in August to 4.5% in September, which is ranked as number 67 out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 208 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,580.

In Stone County, the rate decreased from 4.1% in August to 3.8% in September. That ranks Stone County tied for 47th in the state. There are 4,656 in the labor force in Stone County with 175 unemployed.

Searcy County’s unemployment rate crept down to 3.9% in September from 4% in August, ranking them tied for 53rd in Arkansas. There are 113 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,863.

Boone County saw no change from 3.1% in August to 3.1% in September, putting them in a tie for the 12th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 16,162 with 506 out of work.

Newton County is tied for the state’s 18th lowest unemployment rate at 3.3%, down from 3.5% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,260 with 109 of those unemployed.

Arkansas’s unemployed rate in September was 2.9%, up from 2.7% the previous month.

In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 3.8%, down from 4.8% in August. Ozark County has 134 unemployed out of a work force of 3,535.

Douglas County saw its rate go from 3.4% in August to 2.9% in September. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,231, and there are 152 out of work.

Howell County had an decrease, going from 4% to 3.2% in September. Howell County has work force of 16,159 with 519 unemployed.

Taney County’s rate shrank from 3.5% to 3.1% in September. There are 816 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 26,511.

Missouri’s rate increased from 3.4% in August to 2.6% in September.
