Yellville-Summit School District reports threatening note at high school; no lockdown reported

Monday evening, the Yellville-Summit School District Administration received a report from maintenance staff a threatening note had been left in one of the high school boys’ bathrooms.
Superintendent Wes Henderson says the administration was given information a note written on a paper towel was found stating “I’m gonna shoot everyone” placed into a urinal. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and an investigation is ongoing.
Henderson states the district asked the sheriff’s office for additional deputies on campus Tuesday as a safety precaution. He says “The safety of our students is the utmost of our concerns and we are working to get to the bottom of this situation.”
Tuesday morning Henderson release a statement on the Yellville-Summit Facebook page to notify the public and parents of the incident and ensure all students and staff were safe. The school was never placed on lockdown and no weapon was found on campus.

The letter stated administrators viewed video recordings to identify who entered and exited the bathroom and contacted those students to compare handwriting samples. Henderson states in the letter “The district has a responsibility to make sure that our schools are safe learning environments for students and staff every day, and we are working to make the school day as normal as possible.”

Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander states investigators continue to work with school officials to determine the origin of the note and anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 870-449-4236.
