The Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team wrapped up the Border Battle on a rough note Saturday at Kickapoo High School in Springfield. The Lady Bombers suffered a 48-39 loss to the host Lady Chiefs.
Kickapoo led for the majority of the game, but Mountain Home kept it close throughout. The Lady Chiefs went into the locker room up three at halftime. The Lady Bombers took their first lead almost three minutes into the second half on a three by Laykin Moore. Mountain Home went up four with about 2 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter, but the offense struggled from there as they only scored four points for the remainder of the game. Kickapoo took advantage and went on to win by nine.
Jayla Yonkers led the Lady Bombers with 14 points, and Moore added 12. Mikayla Pilley scored 14 points for the Lady Chiefs, and Ariana Mosley chipped in 11.
Mountain Home falls to 4-2 on the season, and they’ll join the Bomber boys Monday night for a road trip to Batesville.
