Jonesboro community members are voicing their anger over the recent firing of the Jonesboro Police Department’s senior video analyst Rachel Anderson, according to KAIT-TV. Anderson was fired after she publicly opposed the purpose of a $17.5 million bond issue to merge the police department’s E-911 dispatch and real time crime center in one building, which was supported by Mayor Harold Copenhaver.
The Jonesboro City Council’s recent meeting was filled at capacity with Anderson’s supporters. KAIT reports opposition led to her termination by police Chief Rick Elliott, who said her words could jeopardize a critical funding stream and labeled her statements and actions as “arrogant.”
