Bigelow beats East Poinsett County for Class 2A state title

The first state championship in 11-man football was captured by Bigelow Friday afternoon at Little Rock. The Panthers doubled up East Poinsett County 28-14 in the Class 2A title game at War Memorial Stadium.

Bigelow quarterback Rhett Neumeier was named the game’s most valuable player as he completed 12 passes out of 21 attempts for 194 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, and Carter Alexander had 17 carries for 67 yards and another score.

For EPC, Cooper Argo was 17-of-27 through the air with 184 yards, two touchdowns and two picks, and he also had 18 rushes for 57 yards. Omar McCuiston was the Warriors’ top receiver with six catches for 109 yards and a score.

The Panthers wrap up the season at 14-0, and EPC falls to 12-2.
