Mountain Home was able to sweep West Plains in three junior high boys’ basketball games on Friday.
The freshman game ended with the Junior Bombers beating the Freshman Zizzers 47-29. Bailor Tate led Mountain Home with 18 points, and Cody Cormican added 12. The Junior Bombers improve to 5-5 on the season.
Mountain Home also took the eighth grade contest over West Plains 39-30. The Eighth Grade Bombers were led by Max Bryant with 15 points. Mountain Home is now 6-2 on the year.
The evening began with Mountain Home’s seventh graders getting past West Plains 47-42 in overtime. Finley Maxey was the Seventh Grade Bombers’ top scorer with 21 points.
Two of Mountain Home’s junior high girls’ teams had mixed results as they also took on West Plains.
The Eighth Grade Lady Bombers topped the Eighth Grade Lady Zizzers 23-14. Mountain Home’s record stands at 2-4.
Mountain Home did not fare as well in the seventh grade contest as they lost to West Plains. Maycie Carlson led the Seventh Grade Lady Bombers with 10 points. Mountain Home drops to 1-8 on the season.
The Cotter High School teams ended up splitting with Yellville-Summit. The Warriors beat the Panthers 57-48 in the boys’ game. Cotter was edged out by Yellville-Summit 42-41 in the girls’ contest.
The Izard County Tournament finished its semifinal round on Friday.
Flippin’s senior boys advanced to the title game with a 45-39 win over Cave City. The Bobcats were led by Rilyn Robbins with 11 points, and Dominick Hamilton chipped in 10. Flippin improves to 13-4 on the year.
Melbourne will play for the championship of the senior girls’ bracket. The Lady Bearkatz defeated Highland by a final of 56-39.
Flippin will also compete for the junior boys’ title. The Junior Bobcats were able to beat Izard County 72-39.
The Viola High School girls had a rough outing on their home floor. The Lady Longhorns fell to Rural Special 54-49.
The Salem girls picked up another conference win as they topped Walnut Ridge 66-44. Marleigh Sellars was the Lady Greyhounds’ leading scorer with 18 points, and Olivia Dockins and Hadley Reed each provided 11. Salem is now 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the 3A-2.
Mammoth Spring ended up splitting its high school games with Marked Tree.
The Lady Bears got past the Lady Indians 50-46. Brynn Washam paced Mammoth Spring with 22 points, and Adrianna Corbett and Tay Davis each finished with 11.
The boys’ game had a different result as Mammoth Spring lost to Marked Tree 57-49. The Bears were led by Garet O’Dell with 24 points, and Blake Rogers added 13.
Marshall was able to sweep its high school games over White County Central. The Bobcats breezed past the Bears 79-55 in the boys’ game. Marshall also routed White County Central in the girls’ contest 56-29.
Lead Hill was swept in four games by Kingston.
The Tigers lost the senior boys’ game to the Yellowjackets 44-37. Coda Lemon was Lead Hill’s top scorer with 16 points, and Nicklas May ended up with 12.
The night wasn’t any better for Lead Hill’s senior girls as they fell to Kingston 78-21. Lauryn Moon led Lead Hill with 11 points.
Lead Hill also lost the junior boys’ game to Kingston by a score of 38-14.
The night started with Lead Hill’s junior girls getting edged out by Kingston 20-18. The Junior Lady Tigers were led by Kennedy Hudson with 16 points.
The Bergman High School girls were able to advance to the consolation title game of the Tournament of Champions at Southside High School in Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers got past Greene County Tech 52-48.
Valley Springs’ boys won their first game in the Bad Boy Mowers Cardinal Classic at Farmington. The Tigers beat Shiloh Christian 58-45.
The Harrison boys grabbed another win in the Arvest Hoopfest at Heritage High School in Rogers. The Goblins defeated Waynesville, Missouri, 60-45.
Ozark Mountain split its high school games at Haas Hall-Bentonville. The Lady Bears destroyed the Lady Huskies 72-2. Ozark Mountain came up just short in the boys’ contest as they fell to Haas Hall 83-81.
