Toney Brasuell is one of four candidates filing for the position of justice of the peace in Baxter County’s 11th district last month. Brasuell decided to run for a position on the quorum court following the announcement that Ty Chapman would not seek reelection.
Brasuell says his candidacy comes from a desire to be involved in his community.

Brasuell is originally from Fort Smith. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and received a bachelor of science degree. He later relocated to Benton and resided there for nearly three decades before moving to the Twin Lakes Area, where his wife is from. Brasuell says one thing he loves about Baxter County is the quality of life.

Brasuell, who works in finance by trade, says he tries to be accessible when it comes to his business, and he believes that accessibility makes him the best candidate for quorum court.

When it comes to the county budget, two of the major items are the sheriff’s office and the road and bridge department. Brasuell says he considers himself an advocate for law enforcement.

Brasuell will square off against Eric Payne, Ezra Roberts and Carla Dennis for the Republican nomination in the March primary. The winner will get the seat with no opposition in the general election.
