The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show October’s unemployment rates in all counties in north central Arkansas went down while southern Missouri counties all went up when compared September.
In Baxter County, the rate dipped from 3.6% in September to 3.1% in October. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 35th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 519 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,991.
Marion County’s rate decreased from 3.9% in September to 3.5% in October, ranking it as tied for the 55th lowest in the state. Marion County has 214 residents out of work from a work force of 6,086.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went down from 3.7% in September to 3.1% in October, which means they are tied for the 35th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,588 and 141 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County declined from 4.5% in September to 3.8% in October, which is ranked as number 60 out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 178 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,654.
In Stone County, the rate decreased from 4.1% in September to 3.8% in October. That ranks Stone County 43rd in the state. There are 4,451 in the labor force in Stone County with 144 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate crept down to 3.6% in October from 3.9% in September, ranking them tied for 57th in Arkansas. There are 102 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,867.
Boone County saw its rate drop from 3.1% in September to 2.5% in October, putting them in a tie for the 9th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,938 with 399 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 17th lowest unemployment rate at 2.8%, down from 3.9% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,219 with 89 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in October was 3.1%, up from 2.9% the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 5.2%, up from 4.5% in September. Ozark County has 154 unemployed out of a work force of 3,830.
Douglas County saw its rate go from 2.9% in September to 3.6% in October. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,182, and there are 188 out of work.
Howell County had an increase, going from 3.2% to 3.8% in October. Howell County has work force of 16,149 with 614 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate shrank from 3.1% to 3.6% in October. There are 956 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 26,352.
Missouri’s rate increased from 2.6% in September to 3.2% in October.
