A Stone County man was arrested and charged with domestic battery after allegedly physically attacking his live-in girlfriend during an argument.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on December 17, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in Fifty Six for a report of domestic assault.
Upon arrival the victim told deputies her live-in boyfriend, 34-year-old Jeremy Michael Hancock, had allegedly physically attacked her. Deputies observed the victim with a large laceration to her forehead, a cut lip, bruised right hand and injury to her back. She was transported to the Stone County Hospital for treatment.
During an interview with the victim, she stated earlier in the night her and Hancock had an argument, but could not remember the cause. She stated at one point Hancock began filming her with his cell phone before allegedly punching her in the face, causing her to fall to the floor. At that time, he began repeatedly slamming her forehead on the concrete floor, causing her to have numerous stitches to close the wound and sustaining a concussion.
On December 19, deputies called the victim and encouraged her to obtain and Order of Protection against Hancock. She stated she has been suffering from severe back pain caused by being knocked to the floor by Hancock and landing on her back.
Deputies were not successful locating Hancock the night of the incident.
Hancock was arrested on December 27 and was booked and released from the Stone County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He is facing one felony count of domestic battery in the second degree.
