Local law enforcement agencies report relatively quiet holiday period

The holiday period was mainly incident-free for local law enforcement. For the most part, those celebrating Christmas and the new year were able to stay safe on the roadways.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says Christmas was a busy holiday for his office, but this past weekend wasn’t too bad.

Other than a male getting arrested for arson after a residential fire and a traffic signal getting damaged in the downtown area, Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin says his report from the holiday period is similar to Baxter County.

A spokesperson from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says they had no major incidents other than the homicide suspect from Maine leading authorities on a high-speed chase from Flippin to Bellefonte, ending with him getting shot by a Boone County deputy.
