The Mountain Home City Council met Thursday night with a short agenda.

In the first order of business, the Council approved a resolution setting forth the procedure of meetings for 2024. This is a resolution which needs to be passed at the beginning of each year. In the resolution, the Council approved a change to start time of meetings to 5 instead of 6. Mayor Hillrey Adams stated the reason for the change was to shorten the time gap for city directors and employees who had to wait between the end of the work day and the start of the meeting. Adams stated he understood the concern of community members who do not get off work until 5 to attend, but it would be no different than if the meetings were scheduled at 1 and said those who want to attend would make it a point to be there.

The Council approved a resolution to place a lien on a property located on Rossi Road near the entry of Clysta Willett Park. The owner is currently incarcerated within in the Arkansas Department of Corrections and after multiple complaints from neighboring property owners, the city went in an hauled off multiple loads of debris. The cleanup cost the city over $9,000. City Attorney Roger Morgan says the law allows the city to go in and do the work. If the property sells or gets liquidated, the city would be paid at that point.

In the final order of business, the Council approved a resolution from Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin to dispose of six items as they are no longer suitable for use. All items, except for an IBM Think Pad will be sold at auction.

The next meeting will be held January 18 at 5.
