The Mountain Home High School wrestling teams competed in the Conway Invitational over the weekend. The Bomber boys won the tournament on Saturday, and Mountain Home’s girls finished fifth on Friday.
In the boys’ event, the Bombers beat out the host Wampus Cats by 36 1/2 points. Mountain Home got individual wins from Brennen Huggins in the 106-pound division, Bryson Huggins in the 113, Mason Shimmel in the 132, Zane Darracq in the 150, James Wilburn in the 157, Mario Alvarez in the 165, Isaiah Merry in the 175 and Noah Lagg in the 215. In addition, Seth King finished second in the 120, Eason Recktenwald was third in the 190, and Calin Frounfelter ended up third in the 285. The Bombers will go back on the road Saturday to compete in the Searcy Duals.
The girls’ tournament title was captured by Lake Hamilton. Individually for Mountain Home, Leigha Gatewood won the 145-pound weight class, Olivia McCoy won the 130, Nevaeh Bragg took second place in the 170, and Ellie Miller finished third in the 110. The Lady Bombers will be in Searcy on Friday to take part in the Lady Lions Invitational.
