Basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule and includes three Mountain Home junior high teams in front of the home crowd as Douglas MacArthur comes in from Jonesboro. The eighth grade boys’ game tips off at 5 followed by both freshman contests.
Salem’s boys will play their second game in the Screamin’ Eagle Junior Invitational Tournament at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. The Junior Greyhounds meet top-seeded Cedar Ridge at 6:40.
Elsewhere on the junior high level, Norfork travels to Fox to face Rural Special, Bergman hosts Kingston, Valley Springs makes the trip to Elkins, Harrison entertains Alma for three girls’ games, and Harrison will send three boys’ teams to Alma.
In seventh grade basketball, Mountain View is home against Midland.
Two area high school boys’ teams will play their openers in the Seymour Winter Bank Classic. Bakersfield takes on Lighthouse Christian at 3, and Dora plays Aurora at 4:30.
Two area teams will be in Swifton as the Kell Classic continues. Melbourne’s boys meet top-seeded Riverside at 5, and the Izard County girls face Pocahontas at 6:20.
In other high school action, Bakersfield’s girls host Gainesville, and Izard County entertains Lead Hill for two boys’ games.
