A man is in the Douglas County Jail facing 29 felonies following an investigation into a child sexual abuse case. The charges 55-year-old Joel Garner is facing include child molestation, statutory sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, abuse/neglect of a child, endangering the welfare of a child and failure to register a devise as a sex offender for a Facebook account.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, nearly all of the staff had been working around the clock on the case after reports were received. At the conclusion of the investigation, the primary investigator and a detective arrested Garner on Wednesday after interviewing him about the allegations. Garner reportedly admitted to numerous instances of inappropriate contact involving children under the age of 14.
Garner is currently being held without bond as additional victims are being interviewed.
