Two arrested following break in at Midway business

Two people have been arrested following a break-in at a Midway business late Tuesday night. Booked into the Baxter County Detention Center were 42-year-old Claude Carl Rice of rural Mountain Home and 41-year-old Deanna Lynn Blue of Mountain Home.

According to the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an address in Midway where there had been previous break-ins recently.

Deputies found fresh tire prints in the snow and a truck with Rice and Blue inside. Deputies found a glass pipe with wax residue and marijuana odor along with a hybrid vape pen.

Deputies followed footprints that circled around the A to Z Flea Market where it appeared every entrance to building had been walked up to. The owner of the building later told investigators a board he had put over a hole that previous intruders made in the building to gain access had been removed during this robbery. One of the deputies noted an electric screw gun with a bit that would allow for the screws to remove the board to be removed was found at the scene.

When they arrived at the jail and started the booking process, jail staff discovered a counterfeit $100 bill in Rice’s wallet.

Both Rice and Blue are facing felony charges of commercial burglary and criminal mischief along with a misdemeanor charge of trespassing.

Rice is also facing a felony charge of forgery along with misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a schedule VI controlled substance. He also faces a felony enhancement of being a habitual offender.

Both Rice and Blue are being held on bonds totaling $20,000.
