A second suspect has been apprehended in connection with breaking or entering and theft cases.According to a release from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, 44-year-old Cheri Joanne Becker of Berryville, has been arrested in connection of a theft from Jan. 2 when a victim in rural Mountain Home reported his parked vehicle had been broken into and a wallet had been stolen.Becker was interviewed by investigators on Jan. 14 where she admitted being at the victim’s residence and stated the other suspect, 41-year-old Derek Baker of Flippin, got into the victim’s truck where he took the victim’s wallet and chainsaw. She also admitted to going to the various locations with Baker where the two of them used stolen credit cards.
Becker is facing felony charges of breaking or entering and theft of property along with a misdemeanor charge of theft of property. She is currently being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on February 6.

A Baxter County jail inmate who has been incarcerated since Jan. 10 for a breaking or entering charge along with a parole absconder charge, has been charged with additional crimes.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 41-year-old Derek Baker of Flippin is facing additional felony charges of breaking or entering, theft of property, a misdemeanor charge of theft of property and a habitual offender enhancement.
Montgomery states the Sheriff’s Office took a report on Jan. 2 from a victim residing in rural Mountain Home stating his parked vehicle had been broken into. The victim said his wallet, which contained five credit cards, cash and personal identification documents had been stolen. He also reported a chainsaw worth over $500 taken from the bed of his truck.
During the investigation, deputies learned that on Dec. 29, 2023 the victim’s Lowe’s credit card had been used by Baker and an additional suspect Cheri Becker. It was also determined they had used another of the victim’s credit cards at the Gassville Exxon and another at two locations in Ozark County, Missouri. The unauthorized use of these cards is being investigated by law enforcement in both states.
When Baker was interviewed by investigators, he admitted he and Becker were together when the victim’s credit cards had been used at those locations. Baker acknowledged receiving items through purchases made with the stolen credit cards, but he denied knowledge the cards were stolen.
On Jan. 14, Becker was interviewed by the Gassville Police Department where she admitted to being at the victim’s residence and stated Baker got into the victim’s truck where he took the victim’s wallet and chainsaw. She also admitted to going to the various locations mentioned where the two of them used the stolen credit cards.
Baker bond with the new charges will be $15,000. He has three previous felony convictions which qualify him as a Habitual Offender.
The investigation is on going and additional charges Baker are expected to be forthcoming from the Mountain Home Police Department, Gassville Police Department and the Ozark County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office.
Charges against Becker are expected to be filed. She is currently not in custody.
