Area basketball teams where in action Tuesday night as Harrison made the trip to face Russellville. The Goblins topped the Cyclones 68-65. In girls action Russelville was able to take the victory over the Lady Goblins 48-31. Cotter had mixed results as they crossed the county line to face Yellville Summit. The Lady Warriors took the win 51-49 but the Cotter senior boys fell to the Panthers 60-38. The Lady Greyhounds of Salem took the win over Newport 60-37 but the boys team fell short 49-48.
Elsewhere, The Izard County Cougars defeated the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds, 57-52, at Imboden in a key 2A-2 Conference game. The Cougars (15-7 and 7-3) were led by Gabe Spray with 16 points. Kasen Black added 13, Jude Everett 10, and Cash Arnhart 8. The Lady Cougars won 67-34 over the Lady Greyhounds. The Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 23 points. Makensie Yancey added 15, Olivia Spray 9, and Hollie Johnson 8.
Jasper swept Lead Hill in both varsity games. The Pirates went 75-41 in the boys game and 80-42 in the girls game. The Bearkats of Melbourne swept host Cave City with the varsity girls team posting 63-37 and the boys team taking the win 60-45.
