Nominations are now open for the 2024 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame.
This is an opportunity to nominate your favorite Arkansas restaurant, entrepreneur or festival and induct the legendary eats into the food hall of fame.
According to Arkansas Heritage, this year, the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame nomination period will run through February.
Award categories include:
Arkansas Food Hall of Fame which recognizes those outstanding restaurants that have become legendary attractions in Arkansas and influence tastes, culture and a sense of community. Restaurants must be owned and operated in Arkansas; must have been in business for 25 years or more; and must not be a national chain restaurant.
Proprietor of the year which recognizes a chef, cook and/or restaurant owner in Arkansas who has made significant achievements in the food industry. The candidates restaurant must be owned and operated in Arkansas; must have been in business for at least one year; and the candidates restaurant must not be a national chain restaurant.
Food-Themed Event which recognizes events and festivals that give attendees a taste of Arkansas foods and hospitality. Festivals or events must be an annual event and must have been in existence for five years or longer.
People’s Choice which invites you to choose your favorite restaurant or food truck in Arkansas. Nominees must be owned and operated in Arkansas, must not be a national chain restaurant, and must have been in business for at least one year.
The last category is the “Gone But Not Forgotten” category which honors the culinary legacy of a once-and-always influential Arkansas restaurant that is no longer in operation. The lingering influence that the food — and/or those who prepared it — still have on other restaurants and to patrons who once loved it is the most important consideration.
