Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin approved ballot titles for a referendum that could eventually enshrine existing Freedom of Information Act laws into the state constitution.
Griffin certified the popular name and ballot title for four different versions of the proposed constitutional amendments. This comes after the Arkansas Citizens for Transparency filed a lawsuit against Griffin for rejecting all earlier versions of the measure. The group may now begin collecting the signatures required as the next step in the ballot inclusion process.
The ballot requires 90,000 signatures which must be collected by July 5th and turned in to the Attorney General’s office for certification in order to get on the November ballot.
