Tate hits game winning 3 pointer in 3rd OT for MHJH

Mountain Home’s Junior high teams were in action Wednesday on the road against West Memphis Wonder. The eighth grade boys team started off the evening with the Bombers keeping pace but ultimately falling to Wonder 31-24. Coldin Whitaker led in scoring with with 8 points. It was in the 9th grade boys game that Mountain Home was able to pull off the win in a game that saw 3 overtime periods. Bailor Tate hit the final game winning 3 point shot at the buzzer to give the Bombers a final score of 29-28.

Elsewhere in high school basketball Lead Hill had a strong showing at Deer. Tucker Middleton led in scoring for Lead Hill and helping to secure a final score of 38-34. Kaden Baker and Alex Gray led in scoring in the varsity boys game with a final score of 55-33 in favor of Lead Hill. The Bears of Mammoth Springs on Wednesday with mixed results. THe Lady Bears took the win 79-41 but the varsity boys were unsuccessful with a final score of 58-63 for Marked Tree. Salem was on the road to face Mountain View also with mixed results. The girls team beat the Lady Yellowjackets 55-50 but the Greyhounds fell in boys action 58-43.

In the Sparta Trojans Tournament, Gainesville’s boys lost to Mansfield 70-60. Dora lost to Springfield Catholic 68-22 in the Lady Lions Basketball Invitational at Mansfield.
