High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule as Mountain Home will begin the first of four straight road trips. The Bombers and Lady Bombers continue conference action as they meet Alma.
Mountain Home’s girls remain in first place in the 5A-West and are ranked fourth in the latest poll from the Arkansas Sports Media. The Lady Bombers are 16-5 on the season and 5-0 in the league after beating Greenbrier on Tuesday. Alma is 7-14 and 1-4. The Lady Airedales are coming off a 49-point loss at Greenwood.
The Mountain Home boys, at 16-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play, are in third place in the 5A-West as they trail co-leaders Alma and Van Buren by one game. The Bombers improved on their season Tuesday with a win over Greenbrier. Alma is 12-8 and 5-0. The Airedales breezed past Greenwood earlier this week.
The junior varsity games tip off at 4:30 at Charles B. Dyer Airedale Arena. The varsity contests begin around 6 and will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
Also in the 5A-West, Harrison hosts Siloam Springs, Greenbrier entertains Greenwood, and Russellville travels to Van Buren.
Dora’s girls will return to Mansfield to compete on the consolation side of the bracket in the Lady Lions Basketball Invitational. The Lady Falcons face Houston at 6.
Elsewhere, Mountain Home Christian Academy is home against Lead Hill for Senior Night, Cotter makes the trip to Greenland, Norfork hosts Shirley, Flippin entertains Elkins for Senior Night, Yellville-Summit is home against Life Way Christian for homecoming, Viola hosts Omaha for homecoming, Calico Rock entertains Timbo for three boys’ games, Salem heads to Tuckerman, Izard County is home against South Side-Bee Branch, Melbourne hosts Walnut Ridge, Marshall travels to Imboden to take on Sloan-Hendrix, Mountain View entertains Newport, Bergman makes the trip to Green Forest, Ozark Mountain is home against Eureka Springs, and Jasper heads to Kingston.
