The sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continues to sees increases for January.
According Mountain Homes Director of Finance and Treasury Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $577,429 in city sales tax revenue for January which is an increase of 3.1% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $17,362 or 3.1%.
Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $492,409. This time last year, Baxter County received $472,345 which is an increase of 20,064 or 4.2%.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in January, which reflect area spending from the month of November.
Mountain Home received $266,372 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $255,518, it is an increase of 4.2477%. The year-to-date increase equals $10,853 or 4.2477%.
Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $45,091;
– Cotter, which received $18,402;
– Lakeview, which received $16,096;
– Salesville, which received $9,824;
– Norfork, which received $9,657;
– Briarcliff, which received $4,901; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,827.
Baxter County received $216,145 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.
Mountain Home received $216,536 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $210,025, which is a monthly increase of 3.1%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $10,853 or 4.2477%.
Mountain Home has collected nearly $288,714 for January from the park improvement sales tax, which is $68,430 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,390 (the actual payment amount).
Park operation sales tax for January equals $144,357.
