Lawsuit over FOIA dropped against Attorney General

On Tuesday, the group behind two ballot campaigns to strengthen the state’s Freedom of Information Act dropped its lawsuits against Attorney General Tim Griffin.

This comes after Arkansas Citizens for Transparency filed a lawsuit against Griffin after he repeatedly rejected ballot wording for their proposals. Griffin’s office certified the constitutional amendment last week, and it’s initiated act Monday, clearing the way for them to begin collecting signatures as the next step in the ballot inclusion process.

They must submit nearly 91,000 signatures to the Attorney General’s office by July 5th.
