The Baxter County Conservation District is offering a $500 scholarship as part of a statewide education program.
According to a press release, the scholarship is open for local high school students. Students who receive the district scholarship and be eligible to compete at both the area and state levels.
The Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts awards two scholarships based on essays.
The contest is open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors with a minimum 2.5 grade point average who are Baxter County residents and will follow a conservation related course of study. Contest entries must be submitted by Feb. 16 to the Baxter County Conservation District located at 406 West Wade Avenue, Suite 2 in Mountain Home.
Entry forms and rules can be found with high school counselors, 4-H leaders, FFA Sponsors and county extension agents. They are also available at the Donald W. Reynolds Library and at the Cooperative Extension Service Office.
