MH among junior high basketball programs in postseason play on Monday

Monday’s basketball schedule includes several area junior high teams in postseason play.

Both of Mountain Home’s freshman teams will play their openers in the Northeast Arkansas District Tournament. The Junior Bomber boys will start off with home court advantage as they face West Memphis West. Mountain Home’s girls will be in Jonesboro for their first round game with Annie Camp. Both games are set to tip off at 5.

Yellville-Summit’s girls will be in Greenland for the first game of the 2A-1 Junior District Tournament. The Junior Lady Panthers take on Eureka Springs at 5.

Melbourne will begin hosting the 3A-2 Junior District Tournament. On the girls’ side, top-seeded Mountain View and Walnut Ridge tip off at 4, and Salem plays Hoxie at 6:30. The Salem boys will be paired with Tuckerman at 7:45.

Izard County’s boys will return to Cedar Ridge High School in Newark for the semifinals of the 2A-2 Junior District Tournament. The top-seeded Junior Cougars face White County Central at 7.

The Mammoth Spring boys will be at Ridgefield Christian High School in Jonesboro for the start of the 1A-3 Junior District Tournament. The Junior Bears take on Hillcrest at 4.

Both of Lead Hill’s teams will play Omaha to begin the 1A-1 East Junior District Tournament at Mount Judea. The girls’ game is scheduled for 5:30 followed by the boys’ contest.

The Bergman boys will go to Elkins for the opening night of the 3A-1 Junior District Tournament. The Junior Panthers will be matched up with Lincoln at 6:15.

In other junior high basketball, Harrison hosts Siloam Springs for three girls’ games, and Harrison will send three boys’ teams to Siloam Springs.

On the high school level, Bakersfield travels to Summersville, and Dora’s girls make the trip to Seymour.
