Mountain Home’s junior high basketball teams split their openers in the Northeast Arkansas District Tournament on Monday.
The Junior Bomber boys were able to double up West Memphis West 34-17. Bailor Tate led Mountain Home with 15 points. The Junior Bombers improve to 9-13 on the season, and they’ll travel to Jonesboro on Thursday to face Annie Camp in the semifinals.
Mountain Home’s girls watched their season come to an end as they were eliminated by Annie Camp 36-28. The Junior Lady Bombers were led by Macy Farris with 11 points. Mountain Home’s final record is 3-14.
Three area teams competed on the first night of the 3A-2 Junior District Tournament at Melbourne. On the girls’ side, Salem routed Hoxie 41-14, and Mountain View pounded Walnut Ridge 61-21. Salem’s boys were one and done as they lost to Tuckerman 54-30.
The Izard County boys were victorious in the semifinals of the 2A-2 Junior District Tournament as they topped White County Central 46-30 at Cedar Ridge High School in Newark. Kade Yancey was the Junior Cougars’ top scorer with 18 points, and Beniaah Spray added 11. Izard County is now 17-5 on the year, and they’ll face Cedar Ridge for the championship on Thursday.
Mammoth Spring’s boys were bounced from the 1A-3 Junior District Tournament at Ridgefield Christian High School in Jonesboro. The Junior Bears fell to Hillcrest 47-11.
