The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show December’s unemployment rates north central Arkansas increased while southern Missouri counties saw a decline when compared November.
In Baxter County, the rate rose from 3.5% in November to 4.1% in December. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 43rd lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 699 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 17,032.
Marion County’s rate increased from 4% in November to 4.7% in December, ranking it as tied for the 58th lowest in the state. Marion County has 280 residents out of work from a work force of 6,007.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went up from 3.7% in November to 4.1% in December, which means they are tied for the 43rd lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,480 and 183 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County rose from 4.7% in November to 5.3% in December, which is ranked as number 67 out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 245 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,585.
In Stone County, the rate decreased from 4.1% in November to 4.9% in December. That ranks Stone County tied for 61st in the state. There are 4,245 in the labor force in Stone County with 210 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate jumped from 3.9% to 4.5% in December, ranking them tied for 55th in Arkansas. There are 126 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,803.
Boone County saw its rate rise from 2.9% in November to 3.4% in December, putting them in a tie for the 11th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,825 with 545 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 32nd lowest unemployment rate at 3.9%, up from 3.4% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,147 with 123 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in December was 3.4%, up from 3.3% the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 5.6%, up from 4.6% in November. Ozark County has 201 unemployed out of a work force of 3,558.
Douglas County saw its rate decline from 3% in November to 2.7% in December. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,154, and there are 151 out of work.
Howell County had a decrease, going from 3.6% to 3.5% in December. Howell County has work force of 16,082 with 566 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate increased from 3.3% to 3.5% in December. There are 903 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 25,753.
Missouri’s rate decreased from 2.9% in November to 2.8% in December.
