A Baxter County woman is facing charges in a second case where she is charged for stealing money from an elderly person she was caring for. Thirty-four-year-old April Elizabeth Spatafora-Dangelo of Clarkridge was arrested over the weekend on the latest charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Spatafora-Dangelo worked for a local company providing in-home care and worked in the victim’s home eight times in February and March of last year.

Bank records belonging to the 78-year-old victim show there were 46 unauthorized transactions totaling $978.20. Seventeen of them were Paypal payments to “April Dangel.”

A relative told Arvest Bank officials the victim of the fraudulent transactions never had a Paypal account and after their investigation, the bank refunded the entire amount, but the bank is now out the money.

The relative notified the in-home care company who referred the relative to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office because Spatafora-Dangelo was already being investigated for a similar crime.

During the investigation of the first crime, investigators questioned Spatafora-Dangelo about the second crime, but she denied any involvement.

Spatafora-Dangelo is facing a felony charge of financial identity fraud of an elderly victim. She was released without bond due to a severe medical condition.

She was first arrested last September when she allegedly opened a Paypal account using a bank account of a victim she was caring for. She then ordered items totaling $788.
