Former State Senator Eddie Joe Williams has declined to accept a position as executive-in-charge of the Arkansas Department of Corrections.Williams was named interim secretary after the Board of Corrections fired Governor Sarah Sanders appointee, Joe Profiri. William’s resignation is the latest development in the disagreement between the Board of Corrections and Governor Sanders administration.Governor Sanders and other state leaders have called on the board to add more prison beds to create more space. Members of the board have said opening the beds would jeopardize safety due to staffing shortages.
