Most of us are not fans of change. But so far, the change of printing the newspaper at the Baxter Bulletin in Mountain Home from six days a week to two days a week has gone well. General Manager/Managing Editor Sonny Elliott says it’s the first major change to paper’s print schedule since 1985 when they started printing five days a week.
The Bulletin made the announcement Jan. 13 and started the new print schedule the week of Jan. 22, printing papers on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Elliott says it’s something newspapers all over the country are doing.

The Baxter Bulletin is one of the oldest newspapers in the state after being established in 1901. It was one of the last daily print newspapers in the state.
The Bulletin is owned by Phillips Media Group, headed by Rupert Phillips, a native of Yellville. He is the former owner of the Mountain Echo and the former Daily News in Mountain Home. Phillips Media Group purchased The Baxter Bulletin from Gannett in 2021.
Phillips owns newspapers Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. Locally, in addition to the Bulletin, they own the Harrison Daily Times, the Newton County Times and The West Plains Daily Quill.
The Harrison newspaper cut back to printing their paper twice a week two weeks ago and the West Plains paper did the same thing three months ago.
