The state recorded its first tornado of the year on Friday as storms moved across the state Friday evening.
Nation Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado touched down in Saline County, causing some damage along East Sardis Road. The tornado had a maximum width of about 500 yards and traveled roughly 2.5 miles. The tornado was on the ground for about four minutes starting at 6:45 P.M. with winds reaching up to 95 miles per hour.
Trevor Villines, a Saline County spokesman, says no injuries or deaths were reported from the storm. Shortly after the tornado, Electric Cooperative of Arkansas outage maps showed around 1,400 members without power, but by 1 P.M. Saturday there was only one Saline County resident without power.
County crews worked through the night to clear debris from the roads.
