For the second time in less than a week, the West Plains Police Department is looking into information of a possible school threat. The department had reportedly received several reports of a social media post containing information of the possible threat just before 7 Monday evening.
According to the West Plains Police, the post contained an image of a hand holding a firearm with the caption, “This school is not ready for this.” The image originated from an incident involving an out-of-state school district. A West Plains Middle School student reportedly found the picture, took a screenshot and sent it out in a group chat.
Authorities say they have no reason to believe the West Plains R-VII School District is in immediate danger. On Thursday, the West Plains Police reported a community member stated a juvenile had allegedly brought a gun to school and threatened two other juveniles with it. The post also indicated the juvenile and their friends would “finish the job.”
The investigation into the latest incident is continuing.
