The ASU-Mountain Home baseball team had another successful outing on Saturday as they picked up a sweep over Moberly Area.

The Trailblazers took the opener over the Greyhounds by a final of 3-1. Moberly Area scored the opening run on an RBI single by Jordan Green in the top of the first inning, but that ended up being their only tally. Tristan Wheelus drove in the tying run on a triple in the bottom of the second. The Blazers went up for good in the fifth frame as they scored back-to-back runs off a walk by Jackson Down and a lineout by Kolby Webb.

John White picked up the win as he pitched 4 2/3 innings, struck out one batter and gave up four hits, three walks and no earned runs. Kirk Martinson held the Greyhounds without a hit or a walk for the final 2 1/3 innings as he recorded four strikeouts.

Wheelus led ASU-Mountain Home by going 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI; Sammy Lemond provided a hit and two stolen bases; and Christopher Tillery, Jason Young and Alex Harrell each added a base hit.

The late game ended with the Blazers doubling up the Greyhounds 8-4. ASU-Mountain Home jumped out to the lead in the bottome of the third inning off a two-run double by Gabriel Ellison, an RBI single by Lemond and another run by an error. After Moberly Area cut into their deficit off a two-run home run in the top of the fifth, the Blazers extended the lead further in the bottom of the sixth off solo shots by Harrell and Down and an RBI single by Tillery.

Trent Jordan was the winning pitcher with six innings, 14 strikeouts, two hits, two walks and two runs. Lakin Woods and Thomas Jordan each appeared in relief for ASU-Mountain Home.

Tillery led the Blazer offense by going 2-for-2, including his home run; and Ellison was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. ASU-Mountain Home didn’t commit a single error in the game.

The Blazers improve to 6-1 on the season, and they’ll return to Cooper Park Sunday afternoon for another doubleheader with the Greyhounds. The first game at Lester White Field is scheduled for noon.
