A man who fought with another man at a business in Gainesville and then fled the scene has been arrested. Fifty-three-year-old Carl Foster of Gainesville is charged for the fight along with other charges.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the incident happened Sunday when Foster entered The Antler package store and started punching the victim who was at the checkout, causing him to fall into a display case. Witnesses say Foster got on top of the victim and continued punching him before store employees were able to break the fight up.
Foster left the business and employees were able to get the license plate number for law enforcement.
Ozark County deputies were able to find the vehicle at Foster’s residence a short time later. While taking him into custody, Foster had a straw on his person which contained a white powdery substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Foster is facing felony charges of assault in the third degree and possession of a controlled substance along with a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released on his own recognizance pending his next court date Feb. 27.
