30 area high school basketball teams to play in regional tournaments

The Twin Lakes Area will be represented by 30 area basketball teams during this week’s regional tournaments.

Five area teams will be in Greenland for the Class 2A West Regional Tournament. On the girls’ side, Ozark Mountain meets Lavaca Wednesday at 4, Yellville-Summit faces Mountainburg Thursday at 4, and Cotter takes on Western Yell County Thursday at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Cotter plays Lavaca Thursday at 5:30, and Yellville-Summit will be paired with Hector Thursday at 8:30.

Seven area teams will take part in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. In the girls’ games, Norfork meets Maynard Wednesday at 4, Viola faces Mammoth Spring Wednesday at 7, and Rural Special takes on Marked Tree Thursday at 4. In boys’ action, Viola plays Marked Tree Wednesday at 8:30, Mammoth Spring will be matched up with Concord Thursday at 5:30, and Rural Special meets Ridgefield Christian Thursday at 8:30.

Five area teams will be in Manila for the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament. On the girls’ side, Salem faces Piggott Wednesday at 7, Mountain View takes on Corning Thursday at 4, and Melbourne plays the host Lady Lions Thursday at 7. On the boys’ bracket, Mountain View will be paired with Corning Thursday at 5:30, and Melbourne meets Osceola Thursday at 8:30.

The Class 2A Central Regional Tournament will be held at Izard County High School in Brockwell. Marshall’s boys face Conway Christian Wednesday at 5:30, both of the host Cougar teams take on Bigelow Wednesday starting with the girls at 7, and the Marshall girls play England Thursday at 7.

Two area schools will send both of their teams to Booneville for the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament. In the boys’ games, Valley Springs will be matched up with Hackett Wednesday at 5:30, and Bergman meets Charleston Thursday at 5:30. In girls’ play, Valley Springs faces Charleston Wednesday at 7, and Bergman takes on Cossatot River Thursday at 4.

Five area teams will compete in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Huntsville. On the girls’ side, Omaha plays Thaden Wednesday at 4, and Jasper will be paired with Mulberry Thursday at 4. On the boys’ bracket, Lead Hill meets the New School Wednesday at 5:30, Jasper faces Mulberry Wednesday at 8:30, and Omaha takes on County Line Thursday at 5:30.
