A Gassville woman has been arrested on three counts of rape. Fifty-four-year-old Alice Alaine McLean was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Thursday evening at 6:30 and was released at 7:20 after posting $50,000 bond.
McLean turned herself in at the Sheriff’s Office on the charges after a warrant for her arrest was issued Tuesday.
The investigation into McLean began in early 2022 and was conducted by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and Gassville Police Department.
The files in the case have been ordered sealed by a court order. This is done in cases when the criminal information and probable cause affidavits contain sensitive information that, if released to the public, could compromise the integrity of the investigation and cause potential harm to the ongoing investigation.
Rape is a class Y felony, the most serious crime in Arkansas not punishable by the death penalty.
McLean is scheduled for her first court hearing Monday morning.
